Gino Girolomoni Cooperativa Agricola is a project carried on from generation to generation. First, Gino, pioneer of organic agriculture in Italy, starts this project by bringing the Montebello Monastery back to life, renovating it as a symbol of agricultural rebirth. Gino’s dream was to restore “dignity to the land” through organic agriculture – a dream now embodied by Gino Girolomoni Cooperativa Agricola.
After his death in 2012, Gino’s children made the promise to carry on their father’s project and, thanks to their passion and almost 50 years of hard work, they made Gino’s dream come true.
They grow Italian organic wheat on about 400 member farms, covering the needs of over 70% of the short supply chain in the Marche. They grind the wheat in our own mill on the hill at Montebello. Their freshly ground semolina is then expertly mixed with water exclusively from the hillside, in their adjacent pasta factory, where it then becomes the Girolomoni organic pasta that they export all over the world.
They also grow other grain, as well as legumes, an we sell rice, sauces, tomato passata, EVO oil, and couscous. All made exclusively using organic methods and all with their Girolomoni brand.
Their farm has played a role in bringing organic farming to Italy and today, it continues to support organic growing, seeing it as a starting point rather than as a finishing line.
