Our Members by Type

WFTO has developed its own Guarantee System which ensures that all WFTO members adhere to the organisation’s Principles as expressed in the WFTO Fair Trade Standard. Before members have fully gone through this system, they are welcomed as Provisional Members. This means that they have one to two years to go through our process involving a Self Assessment Report, a monitoring audit, and recommended peer reviews, after which they become Guaranteed Members. This process occurs according to a set schedule to ensure we can continue to guarantee the company. Once a member is guaranteed they may use our Product label and logo, as well as the other rights of full members. For more information on the Guarantee System see here. Eventually, all members must become guaranteed. Associate Organisations are organisations who wish to demonstrate that their values align with the WFTO Standard who may not fit into another category or may not yet be ready for membership.
